Pictures of the Day: Majestic Rainbow To the East of Colorado Springs
|This summer here in Colorado Springs has featured a lot of rain. Nearly every day, especially in August thunderstorms have been rolling in during the afternoon hours. Due to the 2012 Waldo Canyon Fire this rain has led to some devastating flooding along Ute Pass and in Manitou Springs. Despite the tragedy this flooding has caused, overall the rain is very much welcomed since it is relieving the drought conditions that has plagued the area in recent years. Something else the rain is causing is the sighting of many rainbows. Here is the most impressive rainbow I have seen so far this summer that appeared recently over the prairie to the east of Colorado Springs:
If you look closely at the above photograph a second rainbow is slightly visible as well. This rainbow was so impressive that there was cars pulling off of the road just like I was trying to take pictures of it. Here is a picture of the rainbow from the front of my house when I got home:
Once again if you look closely you can see the 2nd rainbow as well in the above photo. My house is backed up against the prairie to the east of town; so I walked out behind my house and took one more photo of this majestic rainbow:
The rainbow was just stunning and my family and I actually decided to barbeque that day in our backyard just so we could continue to look at this impressive rainbow.
