Hong Kong Hotel Opens Fantasy Club to Atrract Customers

The airline industry has been doing what it has to do to attract customers and it appears that the hotel industry in Hong Kong is doing the same thing:

IT’S dark, slinky, sultry and possibly
habit-forming. Salon de Ning in The Peninsula Hong Kong hotel opened in
February and is the latest and most accomplished fantasy club-themed
cocktail bar to hit the area.

This is the second Salon de Ning for the Peninsula Hotels group; the first opened at the group’s Manhattan property in 2008 and a third is scheduled for the Shanghai Peninsula later this year.

The concept behind the bar is the fictional Madame Ning, a socialite
who supposedly lived in Shanghai in the louche days of the 1930s.
Wealthy, eclectic, well-travelled and possibly a bit naughty, Madame Ning has assembled a treasure trove of art, artifacts and memorabilia, and you’re along for the ride.

Located in the basement of the Peninsula, there’s a largish central
room with four themed, open-fronted rooms radiating from it, which
allows you to retreat into a mini fantasy world without cutting
yourself off from the main action.

The African room sports a (fake) lion’s head and well-polished
leather riding boots, lion and zebra-print furnishings and a fabric
ceiling that suggests a tent. There’s also a boudoir with a ceiling
decorated with hats suspended in doughnuts of light.  [The Australian]

You can view pictures of the hotel at its official website.  It looks like quite a nice place.  By the way if you have never been to Hong Kong you should go, I love that place.
