The Top Books of Australia: 1-25
|I was browsing through the Angus & Robertson bookstore today which is like the Barnes & Noble of Australia and I found a handout that listed the Top 100 books bought in all the Angus & Robertson’s in Australia. I thought it would be interesting to list the top books bought here in order for Americans to see what Australians read. With no further ado, here are the Top 25 Books in Australia:
- Harry Potter Series – J.K. Rowling
- The Da Vinci Code – Dan Brown
- The Lord of the Rings – J.R.R. Tolkien
- Pride & Prejudice – Jane Austen
- To Kill A Mockingbird – Harper Lee
- The Power of One – Bryce Courtenay
- Memoirs of A Geisha – Arthur Golden
- My Sister’s Keeper – Jodi Picoult
- Magician – Raymond E. Feist
- Angels & Demons – Dan Brown
- Cloudstreet – Tim Winton
- The Bronze Horseman – Paullina Simons
- It – Stephen King
- The Lovely Bones – Alice Seabold
- April Fool’s Day – Bryce Courtenay
- Mao’s Last Dancer – Li Cunxin
- Eragon – Christopher Paolini
- The Hobbit – J.R.R. Tolkien
- Gone With the Wind – Margaret Mitchell
- The Bible
- Jessica – Bryce Courtenay
- The Kite Runner – Khaled Hosseini
- The Alchemist – Paulo Coelho
- The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy – Douglas Adams
- Wuthering Heights – Emily Bronte’
It is also interesting to compare the Top 25 books Americans read to this list because not one book in the Amazon’s Top 25 is on the Top 25 list of what Australians read. My unbiased opinion is that Australians definitely have better taste then us Americans when it comes to books.
Hello!
I'm a big fan of Paulo Coelho! You will love this! He's the first best-selling
author to be distributing for free his works on his blog:
