Just when you thought the Melbourne party teen Corey Worthington’s fifteen minutes of fame was over, MTV had to go and nominate him for an award:
They have all been nominated for gongs at the 2008 MTV Australia Awards.
Politicians, pranksters, film stars, trouble-makers, socially conscious organisations and Grammy Award winners are all in the running to take home a gong at the newly revamped awards.
Voting opens today on seven of the 10 award categories ahead of the awards on April 26.
Sneaky Sound System, Silverchair, Delta Goodrem, The Veronicas and Operator Please are all nominated for the Australian artist music award.
Battling it out in the music video of the year category are Fergie, Mika, Delta Goodrem, Foo Fighters and 50 Cent featuring Justin Timberlake and Timbaland.
In one of the more unconventional categories, the television moment award, Corey Worthington’s A Current Affair interview will be up against Snoop Dogg’s MTV citizenship campaign, The Chaser’s War On Everything’s APEC stunt, skateboarder Jake Brown’s X-Games 45ft (15 metre) stack and stand, and A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila.
Happy to extend his 15 minutes of fame, Corey Worthington said he was pleased to be up against fellow bad boy Snoop Dogg.
“It’s cool to be considered for an MTV award, and to be included in such great company,” he said. [AAP]
I’m surprised how much Corey Worthington has been able to maintain his noterity after the incident has long been over. The kid is a total media creation with little talent in my opinion so eventually the media will tire of extracting every last little headline out of this story and hopefully this guy will just go away.
