Narrative
Over the past weekend I took my kids over to the Waikiki Aquarium and afterwards we planned to walk over to Waikiki and get a snack to eat. As we walked over to Waikiki we noticed some festival going on across the street in Queen Kapiolani Park:
We walked over to see what was going on and found out that the 2017 Filipino Fiesta was going on. There was a lot of vendor tents and local residents walking around in traditional Filipino outfits:
Instead of walking over to Waikiki to get something to eat we decided to get some food from one of the vendor tents. As we waited in line we could see the pork slowly roasting over the charcoals:
Also while waiting in line I had someone bump into me with his entourage and when he turned around to say excuse me I noticed it was Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell.
He was going around taking pictures with the various vendors at the fiesta:
My kids and I ended up ordering some of the BBQ pork as well lumpias, noodles, and rice to eat:
We next found a place to sit at in the park to eat our food and enjoy the afternoon views of the always lovely Diamond Head Crater that towers over Queen Kapiolani Park:
