Hi there:) Thanks for your information. It’s awesome! I have a question if you don’t mind… I am going to be on Guam for 1 week only. Soon next week! I live in Washington state and hike here all the time. What are the top 5 hikes that you recommend the most? I don’t usually like things that are too busy / touristy. But, if it’s REALLY awesome I can deal with some of that too I guess…
Linsey, thanks for visiting the site. My recommendation for my top hike on Guam would be to the Sella Bay to Cetti Bay Trail. It has beautiful views, stunning beaches and Spanish and Chamorro historical sites to see. I would also recommend hiking up to the summit of Mt. Lamlam. Its the highpoint of the island with great views. If you can get access to Naval Base Guam I also highly recommend the Spanish Steps. It is a fun scramble down the cliff to a beach with great snorkeling and spectacular rock formations to see. The Latte Trail at the… Read more »
Thank you very much!
I have read reports/books of there being numerous Japanese caves/bunkers in the Mt. Alifan area. I would like to find that area. I’ve hiked up Mt Alifan starting from behind the elementary school, but the only WWII structure I came across was a concrete base for a communications antenna.
@Walt Woodruff, unfortunately I have not hiked up Mt. Alifan. However, I did find this posting with a link to pictures that does show a bunker that appears to be on the slopes of Mt. Alifan.
Hey Dobbs. Do you by chance have any connection to the individual that wrote the “The Best Tracks on Guam” book? I’ve tries to get a copy but they are apparently out of print and not making more. It would be awesome if we could get a new batch made up. I know several people here have voiced an interest in snagging a copy. Thanks for the great articles and hiking tips.
@Richard Allen, unfortunately I do not know the author of the book, but like many hikers on Guam I found his book to be invaluable and I am surprised it is no longer in print. With that said I just checked the Amazon link and the cheapest his book is listed for is $112. Do not buy the book from these sites for that much. As handy as the book is it is not worth that price when a site like myself can provide almost as much trail information for free.
