Pictures from the Spring Hailstorm in Colorado Springs

After coming back from my family’s visit to the Colorado Wolf & Wildlife Center we drove into Colorado Springs and were amazed to see downtown covered with what appeared to be snow:

But with closer inspection I saw that this was actually hail that had fallen on the city.  The hail we was was smaller than a golf ball:

Something else we saw was broken branches and fallen leaves from all the trees that were damaged from this hailstorm:

This KOAA news link has more pictures from the hailstorm, but this was definitely the worst one I have seen while living in the Colorado Springs area.  I am glad I visited the wolf sanctuary that saw no hail because if I had been driving through downtown just a few minutes earlier my vehicle would have received significant hail damage like many other vehicle owners experienced from this freak hailstorm.
