Picture of the Day: Cookes Peak, New Mexico
This is a picture I took during a drive I took up to Silver City and the Gila Mountains. In the background of this highway sign is the prominent butte of Cookes Peak that towers over the surrounding desert at an altitude of 8,404 feet.
